How VerifyMyDate works
Our research methodology, source selection, identity matching and dispute process.
Identity matching
We combine multiple identifiers — name, DOB, address, phone, email, username, employer, photo — to distinguish people with similar names. A common name alone never produces a strong link.
Confidence levels
Each record is rated Strong Match, Probable Match, Possible Match, or Insufficient Evidence, based on how many identifiers corroborate it and whether any conflict.
Source tiers
Tier A (Official), Tier B (Established media/company), Tier C (Public database/directory), Tier D (Unverified public content). The tier is shown with every finding.
Why records can be incomplete
Coverage and disclosure rules vary by jurisdiction. If a source returns no information, we say so — and absence never proves something does not exist.
How photo analysis works
Reverse-image matching looks for exact reuse, high similarity, crops and modified copies across public sources. AI-image detection reviews synthetic indicators. Both are probabilistic and can produce false positives or negatives.
How disputes work
Every report includes a Request Review option. Submitted corrections go to a review queue and are assessed against the original source.
